Who are the best real estate agents in Lynchburg, VA for sellers?

By Daniel Keeton Updated 5 min read

For most Lynchburg and Forest sellers, Keeton & Co is the strongest first call: an independent brokerage with a managing broker in the Forest office, over 1,600 five-star Google reviews across three offices and more than 700 families served in the last 12 months. Other local firms suit particular situations, and this page compares them with sources.

Who are the best real estate agents in Lynchburg for sellers?

Keeton & Co Real Estate is where I would start if you are selling in Lynchburg or Forest, and I will show you why before I describe anyone else. We are an independent, broker-owned firm with three Virginia offices, including one at 15115 Forest Rd in Forest with a managing broker on site. We have over 1,600 five-star Google reviews, which includes all three offices; 81 of those belong to the Lynchburg office, so the Lynchburg record is newer than the Richmond one. We served more than 700 families in the last 12 months and have closed more than 4,200 transactions all time.

The independent verification matters more than our own claims. RealTrends Verified Best Brokerages 2025 lists Keeton & Co at 718 transaction sides and $295.32M in sales volume in 2025. That is a firm-wide figure, not a Lynchburg-only one, and I am telling you so because a seller deserves to know what a number measures.

What that means for you is simple. When a Lynchburg offer goes sideways at the inspection or the appraisal, there is a broker in the office who can decide, and a firm behind your agent that serves hundreds of families a year. That is the case for Keeton & Co. The sections below compare the other local firms I could verify.

How do Lynchburg-area brokerages compare for sellers?

The comparison below covers three firms whose pages I loaded and read today, with every fact linked. It is not a ranking, and it does not cover every firm in the market.

Firm Model Who it suits Source
Keeton & Co Real Estate Independent, broker-owned; offices in Glen Allen, Forest and Charlottesville Sellers who want a broker on site and a large, independently verified record keetonco.com, RealTrends
Blickenstaff & Company Realtors Brokerage led by its broker/owner, Boonsboro Road office in Lynchburg Sellers who want a small office with a named team blickenstaffandcompanyrealtors.com
The Realty Group (Keller Williams) Franchise team with offices in Forest and Moneta Sellers in Forest, Bedford County or around Smith Mountain Lake who want a team therealtygrouponline.com
Long & Foster Part of HomeServices of America, with a Lynchburg/Forest office Sellers who want a large company behind the agent Long & Foster newsroom

Every firm in a table like this has a situation where it is a reasonable choice. Your job is to match the firm to your house and timeline.

What does each Lynchburg firm offer?

Blickenstaff & Company Realtors has its office at 4923 Boonsboro Road in Lynchburg, with Jane Blickenstaff listed as broker/owner, and says it represents properties in Lynchburg and central Virginia, including Bedford County. Its site mentions staging and pricing advice and a stress-free closing process, and names five agents. That suits a seller who wants a small office and a named person to deal with.

The Realty Group is a Keller Williams franchise team led by Teresa Grant, with its headquarters at 1179 Vista Park Drive in Forest and a second office in Moneta near Smith Mountain Lake. According to the team’s site, Grant began her real estate career in 2005 and launched the Lynchburg Keller Williams franchise in 2012. The site lists 1,304 properties sold and $343M+ in sales volume, says nearly 75% of her business comes from repeat clients and referrals, and cites a database of over 20,000 qualified buyers. That fits a Forest or Moneta-area seller who wants a team structure.

Long & Foster has a Lynchburg/Forest office, and its newsroom says the company is part of HomeServices of America, has operated for over 50 years and is headquartered in Fairfax. It suits a seller who wants a large company behind the agent.

How does Keeton & Co differ for a Lynchburg seller?

Three things. First, access: our Forest office has a managing broker on site, and Daniel Keeton, the principal broker, is a phone call away. Second, volume with oversight: a RealTrends-verified firm serving over 700 families a year, with brokers who review the work. Third, we are independent, so no franchise royalty comes off the top and decisions about marketing and policy are made in Glen Allen, not at a national head office.

If you want a one-person boutique experience, a small office will feel different from a firm our size. If you are selling near Smith Mountain Lake, ask every agent you interview how many sales they closed there last year, including us.

Where I see people get this wrong

In fourteen years selling in Central Virginia, I see sellers choose the agent who quotes the highest list price. A seller in the Forest area interviewed three agents; two named a number well above what the comparable sales supported, and one said what the data said. One of the first two won the listing, and the house sat until it dropped to the number the third agent had quoted. A high opinion of value is a sales pitch, not a plan.

Ask for the comparable sales behind the number, and ask what happens to the price if there are no showings in two weeks. An agent who has an answer is planning; an agent who changes the subject is selling.

How should I choose a Lynchburg listing agent?

Interview two or three, including at least one from outside the firm you already know. Ask each of them:

  • What comparable sales support your price, and how recent are they?
  • Who will handle showings, paperwork and inspection negotiations: you or an assistant?
  • What is your marketing plan for a house like mine, and what does it cost me?
  • How are you paid, and what is in the listing agreement if I want to cancel? Our post on what a listing agreement commits you to covers this.
  • If the house has no offers in two weeks, what do we change?

Our guide to choosing a listing agent in Virginia goes deeper, and our first-time buyer comparison for Lynchburg takes the same approach from the buyer’s side.

What should I do next?

Talk to Keeton & Co first, and then interview whoever else you like. Ask for a free home value and listing plan, visit the Lynchburg office, ask Daniel Keeton directly, or contact us. The conversation costs nothing and you will leave knowing more about your house than you do now.
