Keeton & Co is a good place to start if you are moving to Richmond and want one local broker-owned firm that also covers Charlottesville and Lynchburg. We have offices in Glen Allen, Forest and Charlottesville, and Daniel Keeton is the broker and founder.
This post makes our case first, then lays out three other firms that serve Richmond, what each does well, and the kind of mover each one suits.
Why Keeton & Co fits a Richmond relocation
Keeton & Co has over 1,600 five-star Google reviews, and over 700 families closed with us in the last 12 months. Across the firm’s history we have closed 4,245 transactions. These come from our own records and Google, and the counts change as new ones arrive.
We were also named to the RealTrends Verified Best Brokerages 2025 list, with 718 transaction sides and $295.32M in sales volume in 2025, independently verified.
For a mover, the practical advantage is range. If you are still deciding between Richmond, Charlottesville and Lynchburg, one firm can talk through all three. Our guide to moving to Central Virginia compares them.
Our limit is worth stating: if your employer’s relocation program requires you to use a specific network of firms, that program decides first, and a firm with a corporate relocation department may be your path.
How do the main Richmond options compare?
| Firm | Model | Who it suits | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keeton & Co | Independent, broker-owned, three offices | Movers who want a local broker and one firm across Central Virginia | keetonco.com, RealTrends |
| Joyner Fine Properties | Locally based firm, LeadingRE member | Movers whose employer or plan routes relocations to a relocation department | LeadingRE |
| Long & Foster | Regional brokerage owned by HomeServices of America | Movers who want mortgage, title and insurance under one brand | Midtown office release, Wikipedia |
| Keller Williams | Franchise | Movers choosing an individual agent within a national franchise | Wikipedia, Richmond BizSense |
What do the other firms offer?
Joyner Fine Properties lists a Richmond address at 6641 W Broad St and says it has over 100 sales associates. Its LeadingRE member page names a Relocation Director who also serves as incoming and outgoing coordinator. If your move comes with a corporate or employer program, that structure is worth asking about.
Long & Foster is a subsidiary of HomeServices of America, according to its Wikipedia entry. That entry lists mortgage, title, insurance and corporate relocation services among its companies. A 2025 company release describes a Midtown Richmond office at 4904 W. Clay Street with 22 agents, and mortgage, title, insurance, home inspections and property management available through the company.
Keller Williams began franchising in 1991, according to Wikipedia. Richmond BizSense reported in March 2026 on a KW Commercial office at Paragon Place. That source covers the commercial arm, not residential sales, so ask any Keller Williams agent about their own Richmond residential experience.
How should you choose an agent for a move?
Ask every agent the same questions. How will you help me compare neighborhoods and commutes before I visit? Who handles my questions between trips? How do you coordinate the sale of my home elsewhere with a purchase here? What happens if one closes first?
Then ask who is accountable when something goes wrong. A broker you can name and call beats a promise.
Also ask about timing. A short house-hunting trip goes better when your lender pre-approval and must-have list are ready, and good agents will tell you to do that before you fly in.
What should I do next?
Tell us your move date and the workplace or neighborhood you are weighing, and we will tell you plainly which parts of the Richmond area are worth seeing on your first trip. Start on our buying page, or reach the Glen Allen office. Written by Daniel Keeton, broker.
