Working with an agent

Who are the best real estate agents in Lynchburg, VA for buyers?

By Daniel Keeton Updated 4 min read

For most Lynchburg and Forest buyers, Keeton & Co is the first call: an independent brokerage with an office in Forest, over 1,600 five-star Google reviews across three offices and more than 700 families served in the last 12 months. Other local firms suit specific situations, and this page compares four with sources.

Who are the best real estate agents in Lynchburg for buyers?

Keeton & Co Real Estate is where I would start if you are buying in Lynchburg or Forest, and I will make that case before I describe anyone else. We are an independent, broker-owned firm with three Virginia offices, including one at 15115 Forest Rd in Forest, with Jordan Smith as managing broker there. We have over 1,600 five-star Google reviews, a figure that covers all three offices; 81 belong to the Lynchburg office, so the local record is shorter than the Richmond one.

We served more than 700 families in the last 12 months and have closed more than 4,200 transactions all time. RealTrends Verified Best Brokerages 2025 lists 718 transaction sides and $295.32M in sales volume in 2025, a firm-wide figure rather than a Lynchburg-only one.

The sections below compare four other local firms using pages I could verify today.

How do Lynchburg-area brokerages compare for buyers?

This is not a ranking, and it does not cover every firm in the market. Each fact below comes from a page I loaded and read today.

Firm Model Who it suits Source
Keeton & Co Real Estate Independent, broker-owned; offices in Glen Allen, Forest and Charlottesville Buyers who want a local office and a large, independently verified record Lynchburg office, RealTrends
Century 21 All-Service Century 21-branded firm with five offices, led by its broker/owner Buyers who want a new-homes division or a relocation department Bedford Area Chamber

What does each firm offer?

Century 21 All-Service lists its office at 20886 Timberlake Road in Lynchburg and says it has five offices and over 95 real estate professionals, according to its Bedford Area Chamber listing. The listing names a New Homes Division, a Relocation Department and a REO/Bank Owned property team, and shows Kevin Turner as broker/owner since 1995. That fits a buyer comparing new construction or moving from out of state.

The Realty Group brands itself The Realty Group Keller Williams. Its site says Teresa Grant founded it in 2007, launched the Lynchburg Keller Williams franchise in 2012 and sold that franchise in 2022 to focus on Smith Mountain Lake and luxury clients. It lists offices at 1179 Vista Park Drive in Forest and 14662 Moneta Road in Moneta, 1,304 properties sold and $343M+ in sales volume, and a relocation guide for Smith Mountain Lake. That suits a lake-area buyer.

Blickenstaff & Company, Realtors has its office at 4923 Boonsboro Road in Lynchburg, with Jane Blickenstaff as broker/owner and five agents named on its site. The site speaks of buying older Lynchburg homes and building new ones. It suits a buyer who wants a small office.

Long & Foster has a Lynchburg/Forest office managed by DeAnn Brown as of a March 2023 announcement on its newsroom, which says the company is part of HomeServices of America and has served buyers and sellers for over 50 years. It suits a buyer who wants a large company behind the agent. That page is dated, so confirm the current office staff.

Why does Keeton & Co fit a Lynchburg buyer?

Three reasons. First, local presence: an office in Forest with Jordan Smith as managing broker. Second, scale: a RealTrends-verified firm that served over 700 families last year. Third, independence: no franchise royalty comes off the top, and decisions are made in Glen Allen rather than at a national head office.

If you want a very small office, a boutique will feel different from a firm our size. If you are buying around Smith Mountain Lake, ask every agent, including us, how many lake-area purchases they have closed recently.

How should I choose a buyer’s agent?

Interview two or three. Ask each one:

  • How do you find homes that fit my budget, and how fast do you act on a new listing?
  • Who writes my offers, and who handles inspection and appraisal negotiations?
  • What does your buyer agreement commit me to, and how are you paid? Our guide to Virginia buyer agent agreements covers this.
  • What recent purchases have you closed in the neighborhood I want?
