We'll sponsor your licensing course.

Keeton & Co sponsors a seat in the ImpactRE 60-hour pre-licensing course for people who commit to hang their license with Keeton & Co for 12 months. A prorated repayment applies if you leave within 12 months. The terms are confirmed in a written agreement before you start.

Limited sponsored seats per class.

How does Sponsored Licensing work?

You apply for a sponsored seat in an upcoming class. If you are accepted, Keeton & Co covers your course, and you agree to hang your license with Keeton & Co for your first 12 months. If you leave within those 12 months, you repay a prorated share of the course. All of it is set out in a written agreement you see before anything is signed.

Enrollment in ImpactRE is open to everyone. Sponsorship is a separate optional agreement with Keeton & Co. Taking the course never requires joining Keeton & Co, and no school or brokerage can promise you will pass the exam.

What are the steps to a Virginia license, in order?

  1. 01

    Pre-license education 60 hours

Virginia requires a 60-hour salesperson pre-license course from an approved provider before you can sit the exam.

  2. 02

    Pass the exam Two parts

The Virginia salesperson exam has a national portion and a state portion, administered by PSI. You must pass both; they can be retaken separately.

  3. 03

    Background check Fingerprints

Fingerprinting and a criminal history check are submitted as part of the application to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).

  4. 04

Find a sponsoring broker Before activation

A Virginia salesperson license is only active when held by a licensed broker. Start that conversation during your course, not after.

  5. 05

    Application and fees Final step

Submit the application to DPOR with the exam result, background check and broker information, and pay the application fee. Check DPOR for the current fee on the day, as it changes.

Requirements and fees are set by the Virginia Real Estate Board and change. Confirm the current details with DPOR before you rely on them.

When should you pick a brokerage?

During the course, not after you pass. Your license cannot be activated without a sponsoring broker, so people who finish the exam without one lose weeks at exactly the point when momentum matters. If you want to see what your first year would look like here, that is on the Licensed to Launch page.
